Pope's Prayer Intention for August, 2024

We pray that political leaders be at the service of their own people, working for integral human development and for the common good, especially caring for the poor and those who have lost their jobs. 


Aug 4, 2024 (The 18^th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B)
 

• For business and government leaders who have responsibility for food: that they will strive with new effort to alleviate the hunger and needs of the poor, refugees, and the victims of war.  We pray to the Lord.

 

• For all who are participating in the Olympics: that God will protect them from harm and help them to use their gift fully for God’s glory.  We pray to the Lord.

  

• For a deepening of trust in God’s providence: that we may live in the present and be freed from the compulsions to hoard or stockpile.  We pray to the Lord. 

 

• For the Church: that in Christ, we may find the fulfillment of the deepest hungers of our hearts and nourishment for our life’s journey. We pray to the Lord. 

 

• For our faithful departed who ate the Bread of Life on earth, that this divine life may be their joy in heaven.   We pray to the Lord.

 

• For our own intentions that we hold in silence and for whom this Mass is offered. We pray to the Lord.

 Aug 11, 2024 (The 19^th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B)
 

• For those who have been evicted from their homes or who are facing eviction: that God will move leaders to act to protect them and free up the needed resources for their safe shelter and food.  We pray to the Lord.

 

• For the grace to forgive: that, having experienced God’s generous forgiveness to us, we may be free to forgive all who have wronged us for the greater good.  We pray to the Lord.

  

• For the Church: that we will find nourishment and sustenance in Christ, the Bread of Life, for our daily journey and the fulfillment for all the hungers and yearnings of our hearts. 

 

• For all who have died: that they may share in the fullness of eternal life to which the Bread of Life introduced them, especially our Brother, Acey Mire.  We pray to the Lord.

 

• For our own intentions that we hold in silence (pause briefly) and for whom this Mass is offered. We pray to the Lord.

Aug 18, 2024 (The 20^th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B)
 

• For our nation: that leaders of government and business will be led by the wisdom of God to choose good rather than deceit, and service rather than greed.  We pray to the Lord.

 

• For greater patience with ourselves and our loved ones: that we may slow down enough to appreciate all the gifts with which we have been blessed and to nurture those relationships that bring us life.  We pray to the Lord.
• For a deeper appreciation of the Eucharist: that as we eat His body and drink His blood, we may recognize ourselves as part of the Body of Christ and continue the mission of Jesus to bring life to others.  We pray to the Lord.

  

• For the Church: that we, who eat the living bread and drink the blood of life, may be united with Christ and raised up on the last day.  We pray to the Lord.

 

• For our faithful departed ones, that Jesus who has life because of the Father, may give them new life forever in His Father's kingdom. especially Wes Bertrand, Tracy Guidry, and Calvin Nugent.  We pray to the Lord.

 

• For our own intentions that we hold in silence (pause briefly) and for whom this Mass is offered. We pray to the Lord.
